Your first port of call is your Level 3 Educators Award or a Level 3 Award in Education and Training. The difference is that one is continuous professional development which is accepted by IBA and our insurance companies and the other is Ofqual regulated and is mostly used by teachers who want to teach in a college (both are accepted by IBA and our insurers). Secondly, you need to check that your establishment meets all Health & Safety requirements and that you have the correct amount of time carrying out the treatment you want to teach before you can teach it. For example, if you want to teach Aesthetics, you will need to make sure that you have a Level 3 in Beauty or Anatomy and Physiology as well as six months Microneedling or Microblading as well as two years experience carrying out your treatments. All medics and non medics are welcome at IBA however, it is imperative that we keep the standards high in the industry and by carrying out these checks, it we maintain this goal.

CREATE A BUSINESS PLAN
Make sure you have a solid business plan for your beauty school. It should include everything from your vision and objectives to how you'll price your services and reach out to potential customers. Consider the price of makeup kits, skincare products, anti-aging treatments and other supplies. Factor in the wages you'll pay too. Next, set a price for each service on your list and estimate the potential revenue.
If you need financing for your beauty school business, decide whether you're going to apply for a loan, contact investors or use peer-to-peer lending platforms. Assess your options, weigh the pros and cons and write everything down. Your business plan should also include a marketing strategy, expansion opportunities, legal aspects and other relevant information.

Obtain Quality Equipment
Outfit your school with to your taste and complete with mirrors and chairs, beauty beds. You also need storage for tools, products and linens. Bring in tables and chairs for manicures, as well as chairs for giving facials and applying makeup. Set up the classrooms with a whiteboard, chairs and desks or tables. Provide a locker for each student's personal cosmetology tools and belongings.
